There was this guy on Moi Avenue who tried to address some political issues and the reason I took the pic is because there were NO women around, ONLY men.
Go figure…

Didn’t they have their office located somewhere else? Well, they shifted their business “round the corner” and I think this way it’s more convenient and more attractive.

==> I know it takes ages for some readers in Nairobi to load these images, but please, dear Kenyan bloggers in Nairobi – could you please take more pictures and post them on your blogs? Thank you!

What I love about places like Nairobi is that you don’t have to be a good photographer but instead just need to have your camera ready as there are a lot of interesting sights & sounds to be captured in such a vivid city like Nairobi – especially River Road & Co where the action is…

blogged roads…

Lieber Björn Harste,

da standen wir heute wohl zusammen im gleichen Stau….

__-BH 2 // shopblogger.de — Shopblogger runs a supermarket and blogs
about all those small details of the day….think of Uchumi Nakumatt
+ blog about it and you get the idea…

Björn’s a.k.a. Shopblogger.de‘s Volvo as seen in today’s major traffic jam in Bremen, Germany. I haven’t even been back for 24hrs from Nairobi but those traffic jams still haunt me like those “yesss, my friend, taxi?”-offers all Wazungu(s) receive while walking through Nairobi… LOL

Haiiiyyyaaaa…I am back in rainy Europe and still have lots off (Kenya-related) blog material that I prepared offline and couldn’t post so far. Will do so during the next few days, though.

@Ntwiga: As for those Kiuk stickers, we went to Nairobi City Market and tried to organize them but the only guy that used to have them on stock told us that “a Kenyan from the US came and bought them all”. Our dear Kenyans in the US….there you go…
On the other hand, there’s this guy who produces them somewhere behind River Road and apparently needs some sweet talking, a few beers and some bubudiu to get into his creative mood. Rumours have it that someone was sent to collect 30 different stickers for purchase asap they are ready so there *might* be a positive feedback on this…Clearly, a matter of bubudiu and just as uncertain as the exact number of MPs that will switch parties before next general elections.

P.S.: Should I also stick a hint to kikuyumoja.de on the back of my car? :-)

Gaamaaaaaan!

There are about 74 copies of this very same, small but ultimate viral/commercial for Berlitz language school on YouTube, and although some of you might already know it, I just HAVE to blog it FIY. Or, as we say in our language: Mai diaarr inglish spiiking frainds, juu will äpprischiäit zhät wii häff sucksessfullii expätriäted zhe wörst naightmäire of Göörman Inglisch* spiikers of wörld-waid fäime: Mister Lothar “Loddar” Matthäus, hu bai zhe wäii riicentli kwit his dschjob äs träiner of Atlético Paranaense in Brasilien Brasilia…

“Wot are u thinking about?”^^

AOB: visitors and viewers of the upcoming world cup should be aware that Korean car manufacturer Hyundai rented 36 busses from Mercedes (Daimler Chrysler) and donated them to His Worship His Emperor Franz Beckenbauer today for use with the world cup. That is, the busses are made by Mercedes but covered with Hyundai stickers.
Hello??! That’s like sooooo 1980s, sooo russian mafia in cheap Armani/Vercace suits, soooo…[put your analogy here]. And yes, there WILL BE ppl calling Mercedes, asking them since when they had been taken over by Hyundai. Rememeber D.T.Dobie in Nairobi who sell Nissan/Datsun along with Mercedes? Some ppl think it’s one owner…
(Or in other words: Dear Hyundai, in case you are trying to lift your overall image, please provide us customers with affordable, eco-efficient and well manufactured cars. You might NOT achieve higher sales by an image campaign only…or does it implicate that Hyundai cars, trucks and busses also come with the same electrical problems as seen on Mercedes cars in the past? ;-)

* = While you’re on that Bet&Win website, choose your language, click on “the movies” and select the one with Zbigniew Boniek on “Football Individual/Teamsport”. I know it’s cheap to make fun of others, but – frankly said: I had to switch channels while watching this commercial on tv…just toooooo embarassing to hear our German stars – who did a good job! – speaking their Gamaan Inglischiii… SAMAHANI :-)

tengeneza hii…

While surfing the net and distracting myself from work that urgently needs to be finished, I stumbled upon this useful information [via Gizmodo] [via lifehacker] on “how to get an upgrade to First Class“.

You know, a few more centimeters of leg-room are a whole world to someone who is 192 cm (6,3 ft) tall. Especially, since I realized that the assigned seats fall under the “be aware” category.

Here’s their advice:

Ask the ticket counter agent nicely.

Lifestyle, the Nakumatt way

Dear Diary,

today I’ve come across a nice bedroom set from Kenya’s leading discounter Nakumatt:

While I can well imagine a lot of customers falling for this kind of interior design for the simple lack of an own taste (or mabye because the’ve seen this kind of style in USamerican TV shows), there’s only one thing I can think of when I look at it: KITSCH.

Are Aren’t there any Kenyan carpenters? who could produce such furnitures as well?
