Hooligendammit

I have just taken a 3hrs ride by train only to realize that no one is around. The ladies at the administration office are on holiday – both of them. Well, what a coincidence.

Which gives me some time to read and comment on a few articles. You know there’s this G8 summit taking place on June 6-8 2007 in Heiligendamm, which is Germany’s oldest seaside resort.

I read an interesting comment in Germany’s (left-wing) daily “die tageszeitung” this morning about the summit – heck, there are so many stories on this G8 event alone, and while it remains interesting to ask whether the leaders of 8 economic powers should meet and discuss various topics of interest, the actual debate seems to be on how the State actually excludes it’s citizens, and how democratic rights are waived for dubious security reasons.

This isn’t about a meeting of economic powers anymore, but about democracy and how we are supposed to do something for others if we can’t even demonstrate against such an event. The quality of a democracy clearly shows during such events.

This whole event is one big ******* lie to me.

  1. Ati what?…”doing something for others?” I can guarantee you the G8 or the exclusive rich white man’s club ain’t thinking about helping others but more or less of how they can continue to enrich themselves.

I’m sure that they must be strategically planning using SWOT or balance score cards to see how they can retain their superiority in economic power and by no means are they thinking of democracy or having economic equality after all this would discount the premise of the name “G8”. I think at this point various “disadvantaged” nations should stop waiting for handouts from the so called economic powers and start developing economic power themselves. For Instance, if we Africans are not too lax and fighting meaningless illogical wars, perhaps we can brdge the economic gap by “owning” our resources and stop depending on maana from IMF and World Bank. I think developing world need tenacity and a little bit of imagination and no, I do not mean the “secret” per the Oprah movement of envisioning crap and waiting for the angel to hand in the “bicycle” ( Read or watch the “secret”-the new brainwashing movement in America)but I mean seriously sit and look for ways to depend upon themselves and learn a little bit of what they are worth so that way they can understand they value they hold in natural riches and human resources.

If and when this happen we also can have our own “G9” for what it is worth and can parade our might too.

Way to go Nigeria with China collaboration of your new launch of a satellite which of course received insignificant coverage as compared to Paris Hilton jail term!

So when is Kenya Launching Satelliteagain? with collaboration with China or some other discounted nation like South Korea ..oh my USA would go nuts on that one!
