Kikuyumoja, great post, I had to leave a comment because I've had the same revelation as you have, and I can predict where you'll end up.

Like you, I was a Nokia user for years, never giving the iPhone a second of consideration due to their restrictive policies and pack of multitouch. Then, like you, I got an iPod touch. It is slicker, more fun to use, and can be just as productive as my phone at the time, the n97. Had I been wrong all this time? Is it all about ui and not internals, presentation and not flexibility? I was where you sound like you are right now.

But then... I got a Nexus One. I hate to be melodramatic, but this device truly is a gamechanger. It is the best of both worlds: slick, fast as anything, loads of apps, good camera, open platform, removable battery and cover (including the camera lens - nice touch), multitasking, multitouching goodness. Android 2.1 is breathtaking, and the Nexus hardware does it full justice.

And with loads of form factors and hardware configurations being spat out by Motorola and HTC this year, Android is the answer for a geek who's been slightly corrupted by the temptations of use of iPhone OS.
